The Tara Expeditions Gallery exhibits online work of artists who have embarked on the schooner since 2004. Artists were invited to freely interpret their voyage aboard Tara, and have used various forms of creative expression to describe their experience: photos, videos, texts, or illustrations.
GoodPlanet is a foundation that was created in 2005 to raise public awareness of environmental protection and to bring concrete solutions to the Earth’s ecological crisis. The foundation is chaired by Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
Since 2002 “1% for the Planet” has been encouraging private enterprises to contribute 1% of their income to environmental organizations throughout the world. Participating enterprises play an important role by showing their own responsibility towards the environment, and by providing an example for others. Tara Expéditions is a nonprofit environmental project selected.
The « Plankton Chronicles » project is being created in the context of the Tara Oceans Expedition and the Observatoire Oceanologique de Villefranche-sur-Mer (OOV).
Christian Sardet, Research Director with the CNRS at Villefranche-sur-Mer conceived the series with Véronique Kleiner and Catherine Balladur from CNRS Images (Meudon). Four episodes (Plankton, Pteropods, Pleurobrachia, Embryos and Larvae) were produced by CNRS Images, and the others by Christian Sardet / OOV / CNRS Cote-d'Azur.
Member of the high-mountain group, born in Lons-le Saunier (Jura), François is living at Les Houches with his companion and their 2 sons. High-mountain guide and phototgraph too, François is especially fond of the polar regions.

Francis is a renowned photographer has he spent most of his career as reporter for the former "France Soir" journal. Since many years now, he spent most of his time on expeditions in Siberia, Polar regions South and North making pictures for adventure and scientific expeditions.
