From October 22 to 26

Five years after the memorable Barcelona stopover (in 2009) during the Tara Oceans expedition, the legendary schooner returns to the Port of Barcelona for a five-day stopover as part of the Tara Mediterranean expedition.

After 5 months of navigation and 18 stopovers, this is an opportunity for the team on board and scientists to share their research with the scientific partners involved. Tara’s crew will remain on board to welcome both students and the general public interested in issues related to plastic pollution in the Mediterranean.

The program includes a workshop with local associations on environmental issues in the Mediterranean; a scientific conference, “From Tara Oceans to the Tara Mediterranean expedition, an ecosystemic perspective” with Dr. Silvia Acinas and Dr. Amanda Elineau; as well as meetings and educational sessions on the theme of plastics at sea, hosted by the European Surfrider Foundation.
