Founded in 2012 in Tokyo, the OSI (Oceanic Science Institute) research group was created with the support of Japanese and European scientists aiming to promote the importance of studies on the ocean and coordinate their research on marine life.

As a platform for the exchange of scientific data, the OSI brings together distinguished scientists: Dr. Kazuichi Sakamoto and Dr. Kazumasa Aoyagi (University of Tsukuba), Dr.Ryoji Nagai (Tokai University), Dr. Tetsuya Suzuki, Dr. Yuma Yamada (University of Hokkaido), Dr. Yoshihiro Kobata (Kobe University), Dr. Saburo Matsui (Kyoto University), Dr. Masashi Kato (University of Nagoya), Dr. Hitomi Kumagai and Dr. Makoto Akao (Laboratory of Food Chemistry), Dr. Akihito Yasuoka (Kanagawa Academy for Science and Technology), Dr. Jun Inouchi (National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences) and Dr. Yorihiro “Junkan”; Yamamoto (Tokyo University of Technology).
