Every day of the week is dedicated to a type of research
Here we are: the boat has been tidied up, all that was left on the ice, from the intense activity of April, was put on board and scientific activities (as described in the Log of the 7th of May) have been keeping us busy. Every day of the week is dedicated to a type of research: Seismology on Monday, Ice Survey on Tuesday, Meteorological studies on Wednesday, Biology on Thursday and Oceanography on Friday. Saturday is kept for consequent communal tasks and Sunday for sleeping!
Therefore, the beginning of the week has seen some important activity. One person is assigned to each activity in order to gain experience and therefore, time. Task assistants are changed every week for the entire crew to understand all that is happening on board.
All is organized around he daily communal tasks which are taken care of by three teams: “cooking”, “cleaning” and “water making”. Maintaining the boat is also a daily task. By the way, we have just finished installing the 15 solar panels and are about to start connecting them. Next step: the wind generator.
