Rainy Days

On Monday, October 10th we enjoy what turns out to be our last sunny day using wind power. Marc Picheral, Claudie Marec and Martin Herteau put the rosette (CTD) into  the water for the 500th time since the beginning of the expedition – an anniversary we celebrate with a cocktail/dinner party. In the cockpit, a quick look at the weather forecast warns us what to expect in the days to come. Changes in the wind appear as increasingly red arrows on the MaxSea navigation program. A tropical storm located southwest of California is heading in the direction of a depression northwest of our route.  Tara is caught in the middle of this storm zone, with winds of 40 knots (75 km/h) predicted.
