Elsa Guillaume, born in 1989 in Carpentras and a graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Paris, was awarded the Prix Coal 2015, enabling her to embark as the first artist-in-residence of the Tara Pacific expedition (September – October 2016) between Easter Island and Papeete.
Using various artistic media, mainly engraving and ceramics, she creates a universe peopled with coral, marine animals and inhabitants of small islands. During her residency aboard Tara, she filled her notebooks with drawings and watercolors which will serve as a basis for her project entitled “Coral Cosmography”, a large underwater map to be exhibited alongside the work of other Tara Pacific artists when the expedition is over.
