Rémi Hamoir became a painter after studying at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
His desire to quickly capture light and atmosphere brings him to paint almost exclusively with watercolors. He has a particular attraction for sea coasts, from Barcelona to the beaches in northern France where he’s from. His work is shown principally in two galleries: l’Escarpolette in the Morbihan, and Green Flowers in Boulogne-Billancourt.
L’Escarpolette is linked to the Tara expedition because Jean Collet, gallery owner with Michèle Dutreux, is the former captain of the Antarctica. It was through him that Rémi Hamoir met Etienne Bourgois. The Tara adventure followed. Rémi embarked for a brief but intense period – from Dubrovnik to Athens. Fair weather permitted him to paint almost all the time, capturing the variations in atmosphere and light that enveloped the boat.
