The French designer and Tara’s first sponsor is celebrating 40 years of fashion and commitment. In her new book « agnès b., stylist », she retraces the key moments in her remarkable career.
Happy Anniversary agnès !
In 1976, agnès b. opened her first boutique in the rue du Jour in Paris. Today, she recounts 40 years of history, fashion design with timeless style, art, music, encounters and commitment to chosen causes. An exciting mix to discover and savor in her new book, “agnès b., stylist”, published by Editions La Martinière, available now in all agnès b. stores and starting October 27, 2016 at all usual points of sale.
From sketches to finished garments, the designer’s creations are gathered in this book, illustrated with many photographs she has taken herself. agnès b. – whose real name is Agnès Troublé – reveals her personal work, her vision of people and things that inspire her, and the main themes that have forged her style: rock & roll, the 18th century, masculine/feminine, the young girl, work clothes, travel, etc.

Beyond fashion and culture, agnès b. also represents a tremendous outpouring of generosity and commitment. The designer supports many social and humanitarian initiatives: the Red Cross, the fight against AIDS, access to drinking water and of course a strong environmental engagement alongside Tara since 2003.
In that year, agnès b. and her son Etienne Bourgois, both motivated by a passion for the ocean, bought the schooner Seamaster and took on the challenge of making Tara an advocate for the oceans. agnès b., along with Etienne Bourgois, then founded Tara Expeditions and became Tara’s first sponsor, fully funding the schooner’s first scientific expedition: Tara Arctic.
Throughout the various missions, agnès b. has contributed her sensitivity, authenticity and a desire to share by soliciting artists and inviting them for residencies aboard Tara.
On behalf of the sailors, artists, scientists, young people and all enthusiasts brought together by the Tara dream – now a reality thanks to you – we wish you a very happy anniversary Agnès!
