The initiative Beyond Plastic Med aims to support innovative and concrete solutions to reduce plastic pollution in the Mediterranean basin while working with the private sector, NGOs and the scientific community. The initiative brings together the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Tara Expeditions, Surfrider Foundatin Europe, IUCN and the Mava Foundation.

The call for micro-initiatives will provide financial support for local projects working to reduce plastic pollution in order to develop a Mediterranean network of NGOs, local authorities and private actors operating at local level.

The projects will be selected for their innovative nature, whether it will be technological, institutionnal or in relation with awareness and education of the population.

Key information about the AMI :

Eligible stakeholders : NGO’s, territorial authorities, private companies with fewer than 20 employees, scientific institutions.

Eligible countries : Every country in the Mediterranean region with a priority to the following countries : Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Montenegro, the Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, Turkey, Cyprus, Croatia, Malta and Greece.

Total amount for each project : 30 000 euros maximum.

BEMED’s contibution for each project : 10 000 euros maximum.

Closing of the call for initiatives : 8th november 2016.
