Tara’s Blue Book for the Pacific
Tara’s Blue Book for the Pacific, made with the support of the Fonds Français pour l’Environnement Mondial (FFEM), invites you on a scientific journey. In the heart of the Pacific, discovering coral reefs, their populations and the preservation projects they support, scientists have studied and testified to the preservation challenges and ongoing degradation.
The Blue Book tells the story and objectives of this unique expedition which, for two and a half years, has criss-crossed the Pacific Ocean from east to west, north to south, in search of samples of these precious corals now threatened with extinction. You will dive into this unique ecosystem, source of life, which contains 30% of the ocean’s biodiversity and understand why they are so important to the planet. You will relive this journey aboard Tara, with diverse and varied accounts of the ecological, scientific, cultural and human aspects that marked this extraordinary expedition, which welcomed more than a hundred researchers, twelve thousand children and about twenty thousand visitors aboard the legendary schooner.
