Born in 1999, Phare d’Eckmühl is the brand specialist in sustainable canned fish, especially produced for organic food-stores. The brand, part of a family owned company set up in 1853 in Douarnenez, aims to provide seafood products fished from a protected marine ecosystem using ingredients from certified Organic Farming.
Because of its strong implication in marine conservation Phare d’Eckmühl joined the “1% for the Planet” program in 2020 to pursue two essential goals. Firstly, to go beyond its commitments in terms of fishing responsibly and secondly, to provide financial support for the protection of marine biodiversity projects. In other words, 1% of its sales turnover, from canned yellowfin and skipjack tuna, is donated to the “1% for the Planet” program. These two fish species are emblematic of Phare d’Eckmühl’s strong commitment to sustainable fishing and management of marine and natural resources.
A percentage of this donation goes to the Tara Ocean Fondation, as Phare d’Eckmül shares a strong affinity with them for marine biodiversity protection, to support their research on climate change impact and to share their expertise with the general public.
